Leviticus 6, 7
Focus Verse: Moreover, you shall eat no blood whatever, whether of fowl or of animal, in any of your dwelling places. – Leviticus 7:26

The Israelites were forbidden to partake of the blood from the animals they sacrificed. However, the ultimate sacrifice, Jesus the Christ, encourages you to eat His flesh and drink His blood. Jesus said, “For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.”

Don’t misunderstand Jesus. He isn’t encouraging you to become a cannibal or a vampire. You eat His flesh by believing that His body was broken to forgive your sin. You drink His blood by believing that His blood was spilled to give you salvation.

When you eat fruits and vegetables and when you drink water, the food and drink enters into you and gives you sustenance so that you can go on living. If you never ate or drank, you would die. It is the same way with Jesus. To “eat” and “drink” Him is to believe in and receive Him. By doing so, He enters into you and gives you His eternal life. Your life is dependent on Jesus. Without Him, you will die. But with Him living inside of you, you will live forever.
