Old Testament In a Year: March 29 – Deuteronomy 14, 15, 16

Deuteronomy 14, 15, 16
Focus Verse: For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’ – Deuteronomy 15:11

Because you are God’s child, He takes care of you. And because He takes care of you, He wants you to take care of others. What you have freely and cheerfully received from God, freely and cheerfully give to others.

There will always be some people who fall into poverty, but it is your Christian duty to ensure to the best of your ability that they do not stay in poverty. Who is your brother or sister? Not just the few who are related to you by blood. But the many who are needy and poor. We all belong to one another. When we care for another, we care for ourselves. When we help others to rise, we rise as well.
