Old Testament In a Year: June 2 – Psalms 53, 55, 58

Psalms 53, 55, 58
Focus Verse: Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. – Psalm 55:22

To cast your burden on the Lord does not necessarily mean that it will be removed entirely; but rather that any burden you have, you will not have to bear it alone. God will give you the strength to bear it; and if its weight becomes so heavy as to cause you to fall, He will hold you up.

Because God loves you, He will always sustain you – that is, He will help and comfort you, encourage and support you. And when the way gets too difficult for you to walk on your own, then He will carry you.

When your faith is fully and firmly in God, He will not allow you to be shaken or upset or distraught. Does this mean that your circumstances will always be positive and perfect? No. Does this mean that all of your plans will succeed or that each of your dreams will be fulfilled? No. Does this mean that you will go through life swimmingly and never experience any pain, uncertainty, or hardship? No. What it does mean is that God will not allow anything to happen that will permanently remove you from your trust, hope, and belief in Him. Through every trial and trouble, God will walk with you and ultimately bring you to eternal triumph.
