Old Testament In a Year: July 10 – 2 Kings 10, 11, 12

2 Kings 10, 11, 12
Focus Verse: Jehoash was seven years old when he began to reign. – 2 Kings 11:21

Jehoash was only seven years old when he was crowned and began to reign as king of Judah.

After years of being ruled by men and women who disobeyed the one true God, served other false gods, and repeatedly did things that were wrong, Judah finally had a king who did what was right.

2 Kings 12:2 says, “And Jehoash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord all his days.” He followed the instructions of Jehoiada the priest. He repaired God’s temple. He reigned in a just and fair manner.

Jehoash shows that you are never too young to stand up to past evil, reject the wrong lifestyles of those who are older than you or those who came before you, chart your own good path, and choose to do what is right in the eyes of God all of your days.

God doesn’t require you to be of a certain age to follow Him. He doesn’t require that you have a lot of experience. He just requires a heart of obedience, humility, love, teachability, and faithfulness.

Don’t let others look down on your youth. And don’t you look down on it yourself. You can make a difference, set a good example for others, and do great things for God – right now.
