1 Year In God’s Word: Day 315 — Daniel 3-4, Titus 2


Daniel 3
Focus Verse: Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. (28)

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did not need King Nebuchadnezzar to give them a second chance. Their minds were already made up. As we read in the first chapter of this book, these three boys and Daniel had already resolved in their minds and purposed in their hearts that they would remain faithful to God. If He delivered them out of the fiery furnace, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego would serve Him. If He did not deliver them out of the fiery furnace, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego would still serve Him.

At first, Nebuchadnezzar was angered by their unwavering commitment and devoted belief, but then he became impressed. We should live out our faith in such a way that even unbelievers have to proclaim, “How great is our God!”

1 Year In God’s Word: Day 314 — 2 Chronicles 36, Daniel 1-2, Titus 1


2 Chronicles 36
Focus Verse: Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months and ten days. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. (9)

Jehoiachin should have learned from what happened to his father, Jehoiakim, that doing evil would bring about his downfall. When others before us do wrong, we do not have to imitate their actions. We can choose to do what is right.
