Gomer’s story is told in the book of her husband, Hosea. Hosea was a faithful prophet of God while Gomer was a prostitute. Despite her lifestyle, God told Hosea to take Gomer as his wife and he did. They married and had three children: a boy named Jezreel, a girl named Lo-Ruhamah, and another boy called Lo-Ammi. Gomer soon became disillusioned with her new life as a wife and mother. She left her family and returned to her old ways of promiscuity and immorality.
The Bible tells us in Galatians 4:24 about the nine fruits of the Spirit:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
The world is a big place. The people who live here number in the billions. And we are different in size, shape, age, height, color, language, culture, beliefs, interests, dislikes. Despite these differences, there is one thing that a group of us have in common. Those who have decided to let Jesus be their Savior share a love that is everlasting.
On her latest album, Girl On Fire, Alicia Keys sings about being “the brand new kind of me.”
It’s been a while, I’m not who I was before
You look surprised, your words don’t burn me anymore
Been meaning to tell you, but I guess it’s clear to see
Don’t be mad, it’s just the brand new kind of me
Can’t be bad, I found a brand new kind of free
