Women of the Word: Salome

Salome was a part of the blessed group of women (Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, etc.) who followed Jesus the Christ while He was on earth and ministered to Him. They were present throughout Christ’s years of ministry. These women were also present at His brutal crucifixion, His burial, and right after His resurrection. Salome is mentioned in 15:40-41 and 16:1 of the Gospel of Mark. She was one of the first to hear the glorious news, “He is risen! He is not here!” Salome’s part in the Bible may be small, but she has some significant things to teach us.
