When God created woman, He made a very special creation. He made us beautiful and unique. He made us strong and resilient, gutsy and spirited, sassy and sweet. And He loves us. God really, really loves His girls. And the Bible is filled with many women – some good, some bad – all of who God made, who God loved, and who we can learn many lessons from.

Women of the Word: the Woman With the Millstone


Judges 9 tells the story of Abimelech, who was one of the sons of the judge Gideon. Even though they were related, Abimelech was not like his father at all. He did not love God like Gideon did, and he came to power by killing off his opposition – particularly all the other sons of Gideon, his brothers. Abimelech was mean, violent, and empathy-lacking. He burned down one tower that was full of people and was about to burn down a second tower when our (s)hero stepped in with her stone and saved the day.
