Isaiah 32
Focus Verse: Till the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest. (15)
In my few years of living, I’ve been through several deserts. I’m actually in one right now. Not much good is happening and the future looks dry. You may be going through a desert too. No, not an actual hot and sand-filled place; but perhaps you’re facing financial problems or job problems or school problems or family problems. Like a parched land in desperate need of water, you are in desperate need for a solution to your problem. When a glimmer of hope seems to appear in the distance, it only turns out to be a mirage. This is no reason to lose heart. Have faith that God will pour out showers of blessings on you and turn the desert you are struggling through into a fertile field.
Isaiah 33
Focus Verse: Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress. (2)
As followers of Jesus the Christ, we do not look to others to save us in times of distress. We do not even look to ourselves. We only look to Jesus. We long for and lean on Him. We are confident in whatever we face because we know that He is our strength.
Romans 3
Focus Verse: What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness? (3)
Thank God that His goodness is not based on our goodness. Thank God He is not only faithful when we are faithful. Rather, in spite of our unfaithfulness and unrighteousness, God remains faithful and just. He loves us all even when we do not love Him. This is why our faults should not make us doubt God’s goodness or His grace. The failure of other Christians to do right is in no way a reflection of God’s character. Our mistakes do not diminish His majesty.
