Gladiator Lacrosse was founded in 2012 by 13-year-old entrepreneur and lacrosse player, Rachel Zietz. The idea for Gladiator Lacrosse came from Rachel’s disappointment with the quality, cost and lack of selection of current product offerings. Like every player wishing to improve his or her game, Rachel’s coaches advised her to play “wall ball” and practice her shot as much as possible. Books for Friends was founded by Sarah Lackey. She became isolated as a result of being bullied in elementary school. Sarah took solace in reading. In fact, she became a voracious reader often devouring a book a day. She felt that her books were her friends since they were such a source of comfort. Sarah and her mother made weekly trips to the bookstore to select books. She recognized that she was fortunate to have access to as many books as she desired to read. Kayla Abramowitz is the Founder and CKO (Chief Kid Officer) of Kayla Cares 4 Kids, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. She began the organization by collecting entertainment and educational items to donate to children’s hospitals in an effort to help children feel better. The now 14-year-old came up with the idea after extended hospital stays of her own, in addition to her 10-year-old brother Ethan’s numerous hospital trips, due to chronic illness. Kayla has Crohn’s Disease, Juvenile Arthritis and Eosinophilic Colitis. Ethan has Juvenile Arthritis, Eosinophilic Esophagitis, and he uses a feeding machine. Continue reading
